Renee Nolan
Like a lot of veterinarians, Renee grew up crazy for animals. This love was nurtured by her tolerant and dog loving parents who endured a parade of foundlings, fosters, and orphans in their home. At age sixteen her little girl horse obsession was sealed with an unbroken Appaloosa filly that grew to be a winning competitive trail and endurance trail horse.
Her first job, to support said horse, was kennel help/chief poop scooper.
Continued interest in veterinary medicine led to becoming a Certified Veterinary Technician. Continued horse obsession led to a job as an exercise rider and groom for the master of the Old Dominion Hounds. Eventually, veterinary medicine won, resulting in a newlywed husband, John Nolan, and graduation from Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. Good friends and colleagues Paul Anikis, Monica Chapman, Pam Thayer, and Joe Davis all hail from “the best class ever” of 1991.
After John’s internships was a happy return to Virginia and settling down to part time homesteading, gardening, raising two sons, and working as a small animal veterinarian. Renee’s passion remains with veterinary medicine, with a focus of continued education and individualized care.
